As statistics of recent research indicates, red light running is a serious problem which jeopardizes the safety and lives of people on a daily basis. Traffic light camera technology, a proven method to increase red light safety, is one of the solutions to the dangers of red light running. This technology has already yielded undeniable proof of its effectiveness in saving lives and reducing traffic accidents.
UniHz Red Light Enforcement System, which combines digital camera and video monitoring technology, is the next generation of traffic light enforcement systems. It was developed by UniHz's NPD (New Product Development team) and has obtaineda National Patent.
The system is deployed to catch red-light runners at intersections. When a vehicle crosses the stop line after the traffic light signal has already turned red, the video camera starts to record the violation and provides a 5 second video file and 3 individual still photos as evidence. While the video camera captures the offense, a high-definition digital camera takes a picture of the stop line, the license plate, and the traffic lights.
